Review Guidelines
Write reviews you'd want to read. Be honest, be specific, and help others make better decisions.
Why your review matters
Every review on Apollo helps someone make a better decision. Whether you loved a product or had a frustrating experience, your honest feedback helps others in the Bitcoin community find the right tools.
We don't filter reviews based on ratings. A thoughtful 2-star review is just as valuable as a thoughtful 5-star review—sometimes more so.
What we're looking for
Tell us what you actually think. The best reviews share specific, honest experiences that help others understand what using this product is really like.
Be Specific
Vague reviews like "it's great!" or "don't buy this" don't help anyone decide. Instead, tell us:
- What features did you actually use?
- How long have you been using it?
- What were you trying to accomplish?
- Did it solve your problem?
Explain Your Rating
Why did you choose this number of stars? Connect your rating to your experience. "I gave 4 stars because the core features work well, but the mobile app needs improvement" is much more helpful than just selecting 4 stars.
Share Context
Your expertise level and use case matter. A hardware wallet review from someone securing their first 0.01 BTC is different from someone managing multi-sig for a company. Both perspectives are valuable—just help readers understand yours.
Comparisons Are Welcome
If you've tried alternatives, feel free to share how this product compares. "I switched from X to this because..." helps others who might be in the same situation.
What gets approved faster
Reviews that include thoughtful detail get through moderation more quickly:
- Relevant to the product: Focus on your experience with this specific product
- Clear and readable: Write in a way others can easily understand
- Your own words: Don't copy from other reviews or marketing materials
- Enough detail: One sentence rarely tells the full story
We're not looking for essays—a few sentences of genuine, specific feedback is often enough.
What's not allowed
These will get your review rejected:
- Fake reviews: Don't review products you haven't actually used
- Spam or promotional content: No ads, affiliate links, or marketing copy
- Personal attacks: Criticize the product, not the people behind it
- Hate speech: No targeting of individuals or groups
- Confidential information: Don't share private data about companies or individuals
- Plagiarism: Your experience, your words
- Undisclosed conflicts of interest: Work for the company? You must say so
Conflicts of Interest
If you work for the company whose product you're reviewing, you must disclose this.
This includes:
- Current employees
- Contractors or consultants
- Immediate family members of employees
- Anyone with a financial stake in the company
You can still leave a review, but you must clearly state your relationship in the review text. Reviews with undisclosed conflicts will be rejected.
About Rewards
Some reviews on Apollo are invited by companies and come with a sats reward. Here's what you should know:
Rewards are for your time, not your opinion.
- Negative reviews can earn the same reward as positive ones
- All reviews—rewarded or not—go through the same moderation process
- The company cannot see your review until Apollo approves it
- We never share reviewer identities with companies
The reward is for taking the time to write a thoughtful review. Your star rating and opinion are entirely up to you.
A Note on AI-Assisted Writing
We value your authentic voice. If you use AI tools to help draft your review, make sure the final version reflects your real experience in your own words.
Reviews that read like generic AI output—or that don't seem to reflect genuine firsthand experience—may be rejected.
What About Support Issues?
Product reviews should focus on the product itself. If your main experience was with customer support, shipping, or a one-time issue, consider:
- Contacting the company directly to resolve the issue
- Mentioning support briefly as part of your overall experience, not as the entire review
That said, if customer support is part of the product experience (like for a service company), then it's fair game.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I edit my review after submitting?
Yes, while your review is pending moderation, you can update it anytime. Once approved, reviews cannot be edited.
How long does moderation take?
Most reviews are processed within 24-48 hours. If we need more detail from you, we'll send an email with specific suggestions.
Can I review the same product twice?
No, you can only have one review per product. If your opinion changes, you can update your pending review or contact us to discuss.
What if I disagree with a rejection?
If you think your review was rejected unfairly, you can submit a new review addressing the feedback we provided. We explain the reason for every rejection.
Are anonymous reviews allowed?
